Designer Drugs is a New York based electro-house duo focused on making stadium rocking bangers. Currently, Designer Drugs is releasing remixes for artists such as Little Boots (Iamsound Records), The Veronicas (Warner Brothers), Thieves Like Us (Kitsune), Jupiter One (Warner Brothers), HeartsRevolution (Iheartcomix), Mission Control (Etc, Etc), Freezepop (Warner Brothers), Hail Social (Flaming Hotz), Protokol (Iheartcomix, over 500,000 copies distributed on CD via Scion), IAMX (formerly of The Sneaker Pimps), and Fake Shark - Real Zombie. Designer Drugs will be releasing their first single on Iheartcomix in mid-October.
Michael Patrick, Designer Drugs’ DJ/Frontman is booking shows throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. With over 11 years experience and the ability to read and work any crowd, he continues to kill it on the dance floor. In 2008 he has DJed at major parties in almost all major cities throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. He teamed up with JHN RDN to create Philadelphia’s best monthly party; LIVE FOREVER.
Both members of Designer Drugs pull from their classical music training to create club anthems with pop sensibilities; encouraging the listener to enjoy the music both in the club and in their living rooms. Slaves to the studio, they focus on top end production and are constantly requested to write, record, mix and master projects for other artists.

JUBILEE (NYC / NIGHTSHIFTERS)

Surrounded by nightlife since her early years in South Florida,
Jessica Gentile discovered her obsession with late night club music.
Powered by Miami Bass, Breaks and Grime she moved to NYC and began her
slow rise to nightlife fame by DJing local events, earning notoriety
for her deep knowledge of electronic genres and particular expertise
in bass. Her sets earned her various DJ nicknames from JOLT to 4AM
JESS finally settling on a tribute to X-Men character, JUBILEE who
generates fireworks and is Wolverine’s fierece sidekick. All her hard work and
kilelr late night sets paid off and Jubilee eventually became the New
York resident for Modular Records, a blogger for Trash Menagerie,
Production Manager at famed nightclub Studio B, and Publicity Director
for her new rave music label, Nightshifters. When she’s not jet
setting to Iceland and Berlin to drop her new beats, in the studio
working on her upcoming EP, or making mixtapes for Discobelle and
clothing line Mishka you can find her holding down her monthly
residency Flashing Lights with her well known colleagues DJ Ayres (The
Rub), Nick Catchdubs (Fools Gold) and a slew of infamous guests.

UDACHI is a monster of a man! Though regular size, he’s descended from a long line of fantasy beasts that have plagued mankind since the dawn of dawn! I was eating baked beans with a hobo who went by the name of Lucky Ralph, and he told me his Udachi story. “Yes Sir! I knew the beast! One time I was riding in the same freight car as The Titan Udachi, yep crossing the east side of South Dakota we were and the fiend was sleeping for the first time in a thousand years! His snores came with such ferocity that the demons in the black storm clouds above hid with every breath! Then suddenly the train jerked to a halt and the mighty Udachi awoke in such a rage that he ate the entire train from the engine to the caboose in two, or maybe it was three bites. Luckly for old Lucky Ralph, I jumped out just in the nick of time…only lost my hat and my dog!” - Then Lucky Ralph choked on the baked beans and died!

Most Udachi stories have been passed down generation to generation until the elders wrote each tale down down as individual scrolls. The collection of an estimated sixteen hundred scrolls make up, “The Legend of Udachi”. The records are kept in the deepest of mines, guarded and studied by the Council of Forever’s Twin Wizards of Tomorrow. The brothers have determined through the scrolls common themes that Udachi is fond of back rubs, does not like sunlight, loves fresh fruit, will not eat sweets, and has killed for everybody’s freedom to feel good…

The norse goddess of fate, Verdandi, came to me in the form of Lismore’s Penelope. She asked if I wanted to hear the most recent sounds the hungry beast Udachi was making…It was a remix of Lismore’s Paradis (Comix,12/6). I asked the goddess if she could request me an audience with the monster Udachi.

Then he spoke to me…:
“I am originally form ukraine, living in staten island, i’ve been playing raves for close to 8 years (sad), i love dance music in all forms, mainly cheese. I did a Panacea remix a few years back, i love piano rave music and big beat! I will be coming out with a new mix soon and it will be fun! When i’m not working, or working on music i hang out with AC and listen to dubstep and make up new dance moves for it.”

All jokes aside, consider this a prime opportunity to witness Udachi in action and be the ones saying “I saw him back when…” His productions are as technical as they are a huge bassline monster of a party.

B. Rich returns to Privus for his monthly residency at Circus to drop some exclusively freshhhh basslines.

Brooklyn used to be known for its brownstone houses and its pizza, but producers like AC Slater (aka Aaron Clevenger) are quickly gaining notoriety for cultivating a heavy bass sound and breathing life into subwoofers worldwide. Raised on 90’s hip-hop and nourished by old skool rave, Slater cultivated his love for music and combined his influences to birth his own style of musical production. Emerging as one of the most notable up and coming electro and heavy bass producers, he was noticed and taken under the wing of fellow Brooklynite label, Trouble & Bass (home to Math Head, Passions, Curses/Drop the Lime).

With a notorious musical family behind him, 10 years behind the decks, and an arsenal of tracks, Slater is set to take on the world. Former resident of Montreal’s longest running Jungle/DNB night, Junglist Fridays (2000-2006 RIP), DJ Mayday is currently gaining recognition in the Electro and Club community. She has played around North America, continues to DJ and promote jams within Montreal and has shared the stage alongside artists such as TeeBee and Calyx, DJ Craze, Killa Kella, Party Shank, Dyer MC, Demolition Man and Reid Speed, among many others.
Mayday is one half of Ultra Valentine, with vocalist and producer Vadah Boy, producing everything from Electro to Hip Hop to General Dance music. Bon Johnson is rumored to be from the filthiest place on earth. The elusive duo are the originators of the “Cadillac House sound”, and began leaving their mark shortly after their conception in 2004.. Their image reflects gold chains and fishnets, stripclubs and limousines… The mixture of sounds is the product of Boston based playboy “Bons” aka Bonald Trump and the dirrrty south Atlanta native Matt Johnson a.k.a Emjae. On any given day u can find Bons in rabbit mink, swatch shields, and high- top shoes,(tongues out), or you can Find emjae trying to convince his brother to be the lead actor in their latest adult Movie, or getting a new tattoo to finish the sleeve.. The Bon Johnson mystique exudes cheap cologne and alligator shoes. In march 2005 the duo jumped off with their now cult classic track “Slumber Party massacre”.. A twisted tale of shocking proportion… (picture naughty Girls slighty under 18….. pillows, nighties, and a ton of bad booze stolen from uncle willies cabinet). This year it has been no different and equally illustrious. The single“Cougar Hunt” performed live at this years WMC “porterhouse” party has been causing quite a stir amongst hot and bothered middle aged betty’s (or milf’s for those who can’t read between the lines). As of late, the duo has been “burning up”(as bons describes)the studio. Staying busy on remix projects for artists such as Steve Porter, Jake Childs and Johnny Fiasco. Getting iscensing deals in germany australia and s. africa and jet-setting off all over usa and canada to drop the filth at places such as stereo in montreal and avaland LA. In addition, Bon Johnson has been busy compiling original work for their upcoming album entitled “Diving for the Pearl” said to be available for your sticky hands in early 2007. When it comes to a Bon Johnson Party, all who partake share in the intensity of filth funk and electro… Together, the Bon Johnson live show has been closely linked to antics seen at many a Rick James after party. Dan Garcia

Playing years of events up and down New England from Burlington, VT, to Philadelphia, PA, Dan’s sound started to evolve into a softer and groovy feel. In 2001 moved to NYC aspiring to head to the School of Audio Engineering. Dan’s plans of going to the school changed after 9/11 and found him looking for direction. Dan was an intern at Kinetic Records when he was hired, and took a role at one of the most influential dance labels in the US. Dan worked with big name artist albums by the likes of Sasha, Timo Maas, DJ Dan, Dave Ralph, and many other staples in the scene. Infused with the house sounds of New York, Dan moved to playing “tech house”, a sound more suited for the Drinkland crowd, a weekly held in Manhattan’s alphabet city.

Declining business forced Dan from Kinetic Records, and he moved from New York back to Springfield, MA in late 2002. Dan did however work one last time before the labels close as the preliminary judge for the Sasha Remix context. The top ten Dan selected was sent off to Sasha himself who crowned the winner. While in Springfield he continued his work with True Productions at the Asylum nightclub till its close in 2004, again working with the world’s top notch DJs. Dan’s sound grew darker and he took an interest in the heavy sounds of Nu Skool breaks. His early influences by The Prodigy set the direction into a darker break beat style. It wasn’t till a few years later that his love for house music was restored. Those same dark basslines appeared with a new flavor of house, just as grimy as Nu Skool. After 12 years of playing shows, Dan’s style is defined and is his own. Take a listen to the two mixes available on this site!

Franki Chan

Franki Chan is one of the leaders of the indie DJ movement in the USA, is an accomplished illustrator and he is the owner of IHEARTCOMIX, a lifestyle brand that encompasses a record label, an event production company, a popular blog, and a marketing/promotion company, among other things. As a DJ, FRANKI has traveled the world, rocking dance parties from east to west and sharing the turntables with the best of the best, helping to influence a whole new generation of DJs.

Raised in Indiana, but now living in Los Angeles, via Seattle and Okinawa, FRANKI found a love of DJ’ing through punk rock shows and going to the local 80’s dance clubs in the late 90’s. Around this time, FRANKI used to throw a lot of warehouse and basement shows. One day he decided that there should be something to do after the shows, and he liked dancing, so he pulled out a record player and began playing music. Not long after, the one turntable turned into two and he was thrust into the world of DJ’ing. The underground shows turned into after hours parties and eventually real dance clubs. It was through these years that FRANKI was able to perfect his unique blend of playing ‘the hits’ with the latest and most innovative dance music, often times breaking artists or songs before they became sensations.

In 2003, FRANKI moved to Los Angeles and began his company, IHEARTCOMIX, which has been highly successful and influential in the world of underground music and pop culture. Over the course of the last few years he has began and maintained several successful parties including FUCKING AWESOME, STILL FUCKING AWESOME, SUNDAY-FUNDAY, CINESPACE TUESDAYS and CHECK YO’ PONYTAIL, all of which introduced the best in upcoming talent and garnered critical acclaim. FRANKI has had the honor of playing along side some of the best artists and DJs playing today including: MSTRKRFT, Justice, Spank Rock, The Rub, Flosstradamus, Switch, Boys Noize, Surkin, Drop The Lime, Riot In Belgium, Lady Sovereign, Diplo, Acid Girls, The Presets, Para One, Simian Mobile Disco, A-Trak, Crystal Castles, Peaches, Radioclit, Green Velvet and many more. He has also played private events for Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Cristina Ricci, movie premiers, magazines such as Paper, Nylon, Stuff and Jane and has even played COACHELLA and DETOUR. He’s been written up and featured in such publications as DJ Times, The Wallstreet Journal, NME, LA Times, Paper Magazine, Urb Magazine, CMJ, Dazed & Confused, Vapors, Spin, BPM, Rolling Stone, LA Weekly, Angelino, XLR8R, Club Planet and The Stranger. Having recently finished a successful USA tour with THE TOXIC AVENGER, he has plans to stay on the road with an upcoming European tour with THE TOXIC AVENGER and a U.S. tour with RADIOCLIT planned.

In addition to DJ’ing, FRANKI has began releasing a series of mix tapes, including one for SCION, IHEARTCOMIX Remixed. SCION produced 500,000 of these (essentially shipping gold) to be handed out for free. He is also focusing a lot of his time on his record label, IHEARTCOMIX RECORDS, which has current and upcoming releases by Matt & Kim, Protokoll, Ocelot, The Toxic Avenger, HEARTSREVOLUTION, Juiceboxxx, Totally Michael, Acid Girls, Roxy Cottontail, and Dreamburger.

FRANKI’s motivation from day one has always been about having fun, being creative and exposing those that share the same sentiment. He treats DJ’ing no differently.

Reid Speed

Reid is recognized as the USA’s First Lady of Drum & Bass but has always played a range of sounds from speed garage /2 step & breaks to filthy electrohouse. Hailing from Western Mass originally, Jeff came up quick as DJ Gil-T. He held down one of the highest rated radio shows “Settin’ the record straight”(1996-1998) on WCCH (103.5) Saturdays. The show gained popularity for it’s ALL VINYL appeal, and eclectic mix of Electronic Dance Music and underground hip hop. Through the success of his radio show, he received some of his first gigs at the legendary dance club “Kaos” in Springfield, MA (98). Kaos would later change hands, and Jeff took over the owner/manager role of the venue more recently known as “The Asylum” (99-2004). The Asylum played an integral role in the North East rave scene boom; and Jeff found himself in the drivers seat. His company “True Productions” brought out massives to New England on a monthly basis, while jeff’s deejaying was taking off just as strong. Since the Asylum era, Jeff has deejayed in over 20 states, 4 countries, and alongside names like Juan Atkins, Dj Craze, Green Velvet, The X-Ecutioners, A-trak, and more. Known mostly for his sets of classic drum and bass with some turntablist elements, he is now ready to showcase his new taste in electro house. You may have seen his face in Hustler video’s “DJ GROUPIE”, but don’t miss your chance to meet this FTW hero in person. He once rescued a litter of kittens from an inferno, and later that same day; he delivered a baby for a woman stuck in traffic on I-95.

John Barera

John Barera has been producing his signature tracks and dropping heat on dance-floors far and wide for years now. His floor-ready original productions bring to mind a strong influence of syncopation and dub, alongside jacked-out-figity-tech-electro-house-crunkness. Barera posses the skills to feel out the crowd and mix among many styles reaching from clasics to minimal, hip hop to baile to bmore to bassline to booty to soul, even downtempo, with a special place in his heart for his beloved french & chicago house and german & detroit techno records. His track “Tap Back” was released on the 2007 compilation “Sim is for Lovers,” and later that year he was approached by Spanish filmmakers to produce the soundtrack to the Catalan-language film “Non-non, Quina Son,” to which he happily obliged. He is now working on a new soundtrack to a yet-untitled film as a collaboration with old friend Dj Pollen, as well as new dancefloor weaponry as well. An avid traveler, Barera has hustled his way to every continent in search of the dopest beats (except Antartica - one day…). He has performed at Ikastola, in Barcelona, Spain, and the well-regarded Knitting Factory, in New York City. He gave a seminal peak-time late nite performance in the summer of 2006 when he played one of the largest clubs in Europe, Now&Wow in Rotterdam, Holland. Born and raised in Boston, U.S. he has mad love for the town and has rocked many of its hottest spots alongside artists national and international.

Refusenik

Hailing from Moscow, Russia and currently based in Boston, Refusenik has been bringing his eclectic and internationally-minded sets to hungry crowds around the world for several years. Finally.

After years of having tracks caned all over town (Hearthrob, Thunderdome, Basstown and beyond), after hundreds of thousands of blog leaks, uploads, downloads and gmail threads. After being pined over and recruited to come to our town for months on end, it’s happening.

Lifelike and Alan Braxe are coming to Basstown. On the same night, together. With support from Hearthrob itself and opener DJ Die Young.

Lifelike is, by most accounts, Daft Punk’s favorite producer. He has remixed Annie, Chromeo and Sebastian Leger. He’s released tracks on Ed Banger and produced “Discopolis” — one of the biggest dance songs of the last decade.

So is Alan Braxe. He co-produced “The Music Sounds Better with You”, otherwise known as the biggest dance track in electronic music history. He’s remixed Bjork, Justice and Lifelike. He is at the vanguard of dancefloor frenzy. Always.

Hearthrob is the three-headed party hydra that brings New Years Eve to Cambridge every other Tuesday. They’ve played with huge names: Optimo, Felix the Housecat, Tim Sweeney. They’re used to this.

DJ Die Young has been rocking house parties and clubs for years. Basstown at Great Scott, Make It New at Middlesex. He recently opened for Robyn and Drop the Lime. Now signed to Dopamine, he’s about to blow up.
